Michael Steele is a Melbourne based artist, who moved down to the city to study and pursue a career in Graphic Design. However the overshadowing need to create art took over and Michael left the design industry to pursue a career an an artist.

Along with various themes that appear under the title of "Pop Surrealism" Michael sources and combines visual icons from his generation, referencing advertising, the emergence of graffiti art, computer gaming culture past and present, the internet phenomenon and also the evolution of a multicultural consumer society.

Michaels artwork has appeared in various exhibitions and group shows, both locally and internationally and his artwork has also appeared in various publications such as Empty Magazine and Semi Permanent.
